Deep Fried Wonton Pouches Recipe

These
crispy golden wonton pouches, deep fried to perfection, are wonderful as an
appetizer, finger food or to accompany drinks at any party

Ingredients |

Minced pork |
| 120g |
Crab meat, fresh or frozen |
| 20 pieces |
Wonton wrappers |
| 2 - 3 pieces |
Wood ears, soaked and chopped |
| 3 tbsp |
Chopped spring onion |
| 2 tbsp |
Chopped coriander |
| 1 tbsp |
Fish sauce |
| 1 tbsp |
Chopped garlic |
| 1 tbsp |
Light soy sauce |
| 1 |
Egg |

Some granulated sugar |

Ground black pepper |
| - |
Sweet chili sauce to serve |
Method :

Into a large mixing bowl, combine the minced
pork, crab meat, coriander, garlic, wood ears, spring onion and egg. Mix well and add in the
light soy sauce, fish sauce, sugar and black pepper.

Take one wonton wrapper and place it on a flat
surface. Placed one heaped teaspoon of the filling in the center of the wrapper, then pull
up the edges of the pastry around the filling.

Pinch the wonton skin together to seal and
repeat with the remaining pork filling.

Heat sufficient oil in a wok or deep fryer. Fry
the wonton in batches until crisp and golden brown, then drain immediately on a kitchen
paper and serve with some sweet sauce.

Tip: To
impress your guests, after pinching the wonton skin to seal,
'tie' with a piece of chive of sufficient length. Blanch the
chives first. |
