Category : soups  |  Style : wok cooking  |  Serve : 24 pieces  |

Wontan soup can also be served as a snack or part of dim sum cuisine rather than a soup course during a large meal.

Ingredients

24 pieces Ready made wontan skins
750 ml Chicken stock
175 g Pork with a little fat, roughly chopped
50 g Shrimps, peeled and finely minced
1 tbsp Chinese rice wine
1 tbsp Light soy sauce
1 tsp Light brown sugar
1 tsp Spring onion, finely chopped
1 tsp Root ginger, finely chopped
- Freshly chopped spring onions for garnishing.

Method :

  • Prepare the wontan filling. Mix in a bowl, the chopped pork, minced shrimps, sugar, rice wine, soy sauce, spring onion and root ginger. Blend well and set aside for 30 minutes for the flavor to marry.

  • With a wontan skin on the palm of your hand, spoon approx. one and a half teaspoon of the filling on to the center of the skin.

  • Wet the edges of each wontan skin with a little water and press them together with your fingers to seal, then fold each wontan over.

  • In a wok, bring the stock to a boil and add in the wontans and cook for approx. 4 - 5 minutes.

  • Transfer to individual bowls, season with additional soy sauce and garnish with spring onions.

  • Serve.
