Thai Beef Salad Recipe

 

A hearty main meal salad which combines tender strips of steak with a wonderful chili and lime dressing.

Ingredients :

2 pieces

1 stalk

1 piece

1/2 piece

2 tablespoons

1/2 tablespoon

 

 

 

 

Tender sirloin steaks, approx 220 g each

Lemon grass, root trimmed, finely chopped ( discard lower 5cm)

Red onion, finely sliced

Cucumber, cut into strips

Spring onions, chopped

Nam Pla or fish sauce

 

Juice of 2 limes

Chinese mustard cress or salad cress for garnishing.

 

Method :
  • Grill or pan-fry the steaks for 6 - 8 minutes for medium rare. Allow to rest for 10 - 15 minutes

  • When meat is cooled, sliced thinly and transfer to a bowl

  • Add sliced onions, cucumber, lemon grass and spring onions to the beef slices

  • Toss the salad and season with the lime juice and nam pla  and garnish with Chinese mustard cress or salad cress

  • Transfer to serving bowl and serve at room temperature or chilled
