      Chicken Tikka Recipe ( Murgh Tikka )

   RECIPES OF INDIA

Ingredients :

600g

400 ml

2 teaspoons

1 teaspoon

2 teaspoon

2 tablespoon

2 tablespoons

1 teaspoon

1 teaspoon

 

 

Boneless chicken meat, cubed

Hung yogurt ( see below )

Garlic, crushed

Ginger, crushed

Chili paste

Oil

Lemon juice

Salt

Garam masala

Few drops of red food coloring ( optional )

Method :
  • Combined all the ingredients, mix them into the chicken and leave to marinade for 2 - 3 hours. Preferably to leave marinade in a refrigerator.
  • Thread the chicken pieces on skewers and brush with additional oil
  • Cook over charcoal or under a very hot grill for 5 - 8 minutes, turning once, until cooked and reddish brown
  • Serve with mint and cilantro chutney, onion rings, lemon slices and Indian bread e.g. Naan.

Yogurt that is drained for several hours to remove the whey is called 'hung yogurt'. To make it, put yogurt in a cheesecloth or muslin over a jar. The whey will drip through, leaving the curds.
