Deep-Fried Syrup Coated Apples Recipe - Dessert

Ingredients :

 

4 Large green apples, peeled, cored and cut into 8 pieces
- Oil for deep-frying
 

The Batter

 
125 g All purpose flour
2 tbsp Cornstarch
1 ttsp Baking soda
1 Small sized egg
- Water
 

The Syrup

 
1/2 cup Sugar
2 tbsp Water
 

Method :

  • Prepare batter by combining all the ingredients plus water to achieve the consistency of a thick cream.

  • Prepare syrup by heating sugar and water over medium heat, stirring until it turns golden brown, keep warm.

  • Ready a bowl of iced water and a greased serving dish.

  • Heat oil until very hot, dip slices of apples into the batter, a few at a time, and lower into the oil and fry until golden brown.

  • Remove from oil, drain and dip into the syrup, coating evenly.

  • Immediately plunge the coated apple slices into the iced water to set the syrup into a toffee-like coating.

  • Place on a serving dish and serve straightly away.
