Skewered Beef Recipe

(Ame Huat)

RECIPES OF BURMA

 

Ingredients :

500 g Lean rump or topside steak, cut into long, narrow & thin slices.
5 cm Fresh root ginger, shredded
1 tbsp Coriander, ground
2 tsp Cummin, ground
2 tsp Salt
1 tsp Turmeric powder
1 tsp Fennel, crushed
170 ml Thick coconut milk
- Oil

 

Method :

  • Pound ginger, coriander, cummin, salt and turmeric to a paste and mix in fennel, coconut milk and approx. 4 tablespoons of oil.
  • Marinate the beef strips with the mixture, ensure the strips are evenly coated and allow to sit for at least 30 minutes.
  • Thread the strips of beef onto bamboo or metal skewers, and brush with a little more oil and grill or roast over a charcoal fire until dark brown and slightly crisp.
  • It is important to keep meat moist by brushing with oil during cooking.
  • Serve with a hot sauce chili sauce or fish sauce.
