Skewered Beef Recipe

Ingredients : |
| 500 g |
Lean rump or topside steak, cut into
long, narrow & thin slices. |
| 5 cm |
Fresh root ginger, shredded |
| 1 tbsp |
Coriander, ground |
| 2 tsp |
Cummin, ground |
| 2 tsp |
Salt |
| 1 tsp |
Turmeric powder |
| 1 tsp |
Fennel, crushed |
| 170 ml |
Thick coconut milk |
| - |
Oil |
Method :
- Pound ginger, coriander, cummin, salt and turmeric to a
paste and mix in fennel, coconut milk and approx. 4 tablespoons of oil.
- Marinate the beef strips with the mixture, ensure the strips
are evenly coated and allow to sit for at least 30 minutes.
- Thread the strips of beef onto bamboo or metal skewers, and
brush with a little more oil and grill or roast over a charcoal fire until dark brown and
slightly crisp.
- It is important to keep meat moist by brushing with oil
during cooking.
- Serve with a hot sauce chili sauce or fish sauce.
